Ready to future-proof your career in 2024?
Let’s dive in.
You did some amazing things in 2023. Don’t let them go unnoticed. Make sure your LinkedIn profile reflects your achievements and skills.
Focus on these three sections: Headshot, Headline, and About. They are the first things people see when they visit your profile.
They are your digital first impression. They should tell a clear, compelling, and current story of your personal brand.
Measure its impact, make it more magnetic and memorable.
What are your career goals for 2024?
What kind of opportunities are you looking for?
What kind of people do you want to connect with?
Whatever they are, make sure your profile matches them. Use keywords that are relevant to your industry, niche, and role. They will help you rank higher on LinkedIn search and attract the right people.
But don’t just stuff your profile with keywords. Make sure they are authentic and aspirational. Your profile should reflect who you are and who you want to be.
Think of it as “planned serendipity.”
You never know who might stumble upon your profile and offer you an amazing opportunity.
How many connection requests do you have pending?
Probably a lot.
Don’t let them pile up.
Go through them and accept the ones that meet your criteria.
But don’t stop there. Start a conversation with your new connections.
Ask them how they found you, what they do, and how you can help them.
Build a relationship with them. You never know where it might lead.
And don’t limit yourself to your existing network. Expand your horizons and connect with new people. Use a broad networking strategy.
Connect with people from different industries, backgrounds, and locations.
Diverse connections can lead to unexpected and valuable opportunities.
What’s the best way to prove your credibility on LinkedIn?
Endorsements and Recommendations. They are the social proof of your skills and professional standing. They show that others trust and respect you.
They make you more attractive and trustworthy to potential employers, clients, and partners. But how do you get them?
Simple. You give them.
Think of the people you worked with or met in 2023.
Who impressed you? Who helped you? Who inspired you?
Give them a recommendation. Tell them what you appreciate about them and how they made a difference. Be specific and sincere.
Don’t expect anything in return. But chances are, they will reciprocate.
And if they don’t, you can always ask. Politely request a recommendation from someone who knows you well and can vouch for your work.
Make it easy for them by suggesting what they can write about.
Don’t be shy. Recommendations are a win-win for both parties.
They boost your reputation and theirs.
